Why do I have to enter my PIN for a contactless purchase under $250?

A $500 cumulative limit applies to contactless transactions made with your debit card. 

 

This cumulative limit is reached when your total contactless transactions since the last time you entered your PIN amount to $500. 

 

If you have reached the limit, you must make a debit payment with your PIN again to confirm that you are the legitimate cardholder. This is an additional security measure to protect you from theft and fraud.
